Currently celebrating twenty five years of design, Jonathan Straley Designs is a San Francisco based Interior Design firm. Located in the heart of San Francisco's Mission district, we are a full service, residential Interior Design firm offering a wide range of design solutions and services. Established in 1996, Jonathan Straley Designs has completed projects nationally from Minneapolis MN, San Juan Islands, to Santa Barbara California and the Bay Area. Currently Jonathan has projects in the Sierra foothills of Lake Tahoe, a new Home in Sun Valley Idaho and several San Francisco condominiums.
Jonathan's design aesthetic could be described as eclectic, bold, contemporary and cutting edge. He embraces a sensibility of comfort, beauty and functionality. Diane Dorrans Saeks, as quoted from a San Francisco Chronicle Home Section Cover Story "Timeless Design", says " San Francisco interior designer Jonathan Straley has a very eclectic and highly entertaining mix of furniture, paintings, sculpture and found objects."
Jonathan has an extensive creative arts background. He earned his BA from the University of Delaware in Art history and attended the University of California at Berkeley's Landscape Architecture program. He has also worked for and been affiliated with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for over 20 years.
Jonathan developed his knowledge and expertise as a designer while working for sixteen years with one of San Francisco's leading top Design firms, John Wheatman and Associates. From 2004 to 2006, Jonathan worked as lead and principal interior designer with Alamosa Design, a local Bay Area architecture firm. While working with Alamosa, Jonathan had the opportunity to showcase his design talents in projects at the newly celebrated St. Regis and the Four Seasons.
Living with fine art, maintaining an urban garden and exploring unusual architectural contexts are all a part of Jonathan's personal design interests. Jonathan’s work has been showcased in House Beautiful, Featured Designer in The San Francisco Chronicle Home Section cover story, Interior Design Magazine and Northern California Home. Jonathan's commitment and interest in the fine arts lead him to serve on the Board of SECA (Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art) at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, uniting young collectors with emerging artists here in the Bay Area. Jonathan has been a guest lecturer for notable organizations on the topic of Interior design in the San Francisco Bay Area.
