Jonathan Straley
Celebrates 25
Years of Design

On May 22nd the Edelman Leather showroom graciously hosted a cocktail party celebration for Jonathan Straley. Yes, it’s been 25 years! Jonathan started his career with John Wheatman’s office in 1983, then in 1997 he launched out on his own to establish Jonathan Straley Designs. Jonathan has enjoyed a lively and notable career as a designer. Many of his early projects were published in House Beautiful, Interior Design Magazine and most recently the San Francisco Chronicle magazine.

Jonathan has incorporated Edelman Leather into many of his projects. Jonathan says of Edelman, “ I love Edelman’s colors and textures. I appreciate the versatility of the collection, I can find something to go with just about any design scheme.” So thank you again to the team at Edelman Leather in helping us to create such a lovely party and to all of you who came out to celebrate!

An extra thank you to Barry Hayes for all his hard work and to our interns at Jonathan Straley Designs—Hazel, Ashley and Paulina. A very special thanks to California Homes Magazine for providing their photographer, Drew Altizer.

Jonathan Straley Designs is Going Green

There are many new developments in Green Design principles and materials that we are incorporating into our designs. Below are a few of the resources and products that we are excited about.

Alkemi is a recycled surface material composed of post-industrial scrap. It is a sustainable alternative to plastic laminate, stone and glass with a range of applications.

Plyboo is a bamboo-ply made from 100% bamboo, a rapidly renewable material. Plyboo can be used for flooring, paneling, surfacing and furniture construction. It serves as a sustainable alternative to traditional hardwoods, which are being continuously depleted.
